Inc. has announced its sixth annual Female Founders list, honoring a group of 200 bold women whose innovations and ideas are shaping the world into a better place. Among the 200 is Jane Zhang, selected for her role in creating and growing STAR EV Corporation. Through her persistent hands-on engagement and devotion to quality, despite facing various obstacles and challenges, especially in the last few years. STAR is now one of the most innovative designers and manufacturers of electric personal transport vehicles in the global market.
Since founding STAR EV in 2003 in Upstate South Carolina, Jane has built and fostered an innovative and positive business culture inspired by her personal altruistic beliefs. Noting the increasing worldwide demand for zero-emissions vehicles – as well as the changing transportation needs of the aging-but-active Baby Boom generation – she defined her company’s core mission: to produce well-engineered, high-performance, safe low-speed electric vehicles that deliver an unforgettable driving experience.
Her customer-centric approach drives her business decisions and strategy developments, ensuring that each STAR vehicle meets the highest standards, with the elegant styling, comfortable ride, and low maintenance/high performance that customers expect from STAR.
Today, STAR EV is a global company that manufactures and distributes more than fifty models of low-speed electric vehicles for the personal, recreational, commercial/industrial, and transit markets, with hundreds of authorized dealers worldwide.
Jane says, “I am so honored to be recognized by Inc. and peered with these amazing, high-achieving women. I am so proud of the entire STAR EV team for stepping up to all the obstacles we’ve encountered during the pandemic and other crises we have endured. Now we’re not only a world-class company, we are also a STAR EV family.”
Each year, Inc. editors review thousands of applications highlighting female founders who are challenging the status quo and tackling some of the world’s biggest problems. The resulting list features women who have overcome challenges and lifted those around them while leading impactful organizations across the country. Inc. editor-in-chief Scott Omelianuk says, “These 200 female founders have identified solutions to difficult problems and created valuable, industry-changing companies out of them. We congratulate this year’s list on their achievements and look forward to their continued success.”
Headquartered in Simpsonville, South Carolina, STAR EV Corporation engineers and delivers market-leading low-speed vehicles that enhance our customers’ lifestyles and provide sustainable commercial solutions.
